Addressing Standards
Bhutan Postal Corporation Ltd also introduces Standard Addressing System coinciding with the 30th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty, the Druk Gyalpo on 21st February 2010.
The Standard Addressing System would assist in enhancing the standards and uniformity of addresses while it would also assist Bhutan Post in achieving accuracy in sorting and more efficient delivery.
Bhutan Post in collaboration with other stakeholders(City Corporation, Military etc) has come out with defined and addressing standards to be used for all postal addresses in Bhutan.This addressing standard contains the standards for all Bhutanese Postal Address types-urban, rural and military. Yet, Bhutan Post is in process of bringing out the Postal Standard Addressing System manual.
Sending mail outside Bhutan
However, to meet the addressing standards for mails to be sent outside Bhutan, you may log on to Universal Postal Union website.
www.upu.int/post_code/en/postal_addressing_systems_member_countries.shtml. This would assist in addressing mails accurately as per the addressing standard of a particular country.
